This California Fine Red Wine is worth saving for a special occasion (and it ages well!)
Winemaker Notes on the Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep, dark ruby color. Complex notes of black currants, cassis, violets and savory herbs with a hint of red cherry. Light barrel spice and cedar aromas. Soft and lush mouthfeel, rich texture with subtle and well-integrated tannins. Flavors of black raspberry, dark chocolate, and cherry cola on the finish.
Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyards is a powerful, burly wine. Lavender, menthol, sage, tobacco, earthiness and plum give the 2013 much of its brooding, intense personality. Despite its considerable intensity, the 2013 has relatively soft tannins for the year, so it should drink well with minimal cellaring. The 2013 is only 75% Cabernet Sauvignon. A good dose of Merlot (12%), Petit Verdot (11%) and Malbec (2%) round out the blend. Rating: 92+
