Memorial Day: Cape Cod 2019

Posted by Cranberry Liquors About Us, Around Town, Cranberry_Liquors, Featured, Seasonal Beer, Summer_wine No Comments

Not to boast…. but, well… we’re feeling like Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” right about now.
Cranberry Liquors did it again. We’re Best Liquor Store of Cape Cod 2019 for Upper Cape!

Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now (Official Video)

Subscribe to the Official Queen Channel Here http://bit.ly/Subscribe2Queen Taken from Jazz, 1978. Queen – ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ Click here to buy the DVD with this video at the Official Queen Store: http://www.queenonlinestore.com The official ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ music video. Taken from ‘Greatest Video Hits 1’.

Suffice it to say, we owe it all to our awesome customers. Joe has always brought this idea that all the preparation we do each week is “sort of like throwing a party. I just hope that people want to come.”

I love this attitude!

“Big” weekends on Cape Cod are sort of a big deal for our business… and many, many others on Cape Cod. Yes, traffic can grind to a stop  especially even if your air conditioning is not functioning. That said, however, traffic has been trickling in all week long and we think this weekend will be an awesome one from the weather to the windows to the walls (no whammy, no whammy, no whammy!)

Thank you for making us Cape Cod Life’s favorite Liquor Store for the 5th year running. We can’t wait to say hello, to patrons both new and old this weekend.

We’ll be making the most of the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.

We’ll definitely find a way to celebrate our Brand New Gold Star too, so don’t  miss out as we kick off both the Summer of 2019 as well as our shoes. Just as soon as we finish our shift.

Don’t stop me don’t stop me…

BOO! No, Really… Don’t Be Afraid…

Posted by Cranberry Liquors Around Town, Drinking Beer, Seasonal Beer, Tasting Wine, Uncategorized No Comments

It seems like every time we blog lately, there is a needed update to the Route 28 traffic flow.

Yes, the construction next door is even worse than when we had a skunk tenant.

Worse. Than. The skunk.

skunk_halloweenGuys, when you could practice the silent treatment at work… let’s just say it’s not good for business.

We might as well wear Jason masks behind the counter, as our patrons are taking a detour home and narrowly avoiding the construction that brought all traffic to a full stop.

Without too many unneeded apologies, Cranberry Liquors is SO HAPPY to be nearing the end of what seems like a business deterrent.CranberryLiquors_harwich

THE GOOD NEWS?!

Besides Halloween coming up?

Or the fact that we have candy at the counter this weekend?!

Or this fancy, brand spankin’ new sidewalk running alongside Cranberry Liquors and Harwich Port Route 28?

Harwich Port will return to normal by November 1st. I hear you on the audible eye-roll – trust me, no one is readier for this to be done sooner than us!

We can’t wait to see everyone who’s been dodging this side of Harwich.

We promise to keep you updated as soon as we know better.

In the meantime…  (great, great song.)
We’ll definitely be doing a tasting this afternoon, October 27, 2018. (1-6 PM).

Any and all ideas on #costumes this halloween are beyond welcome – one of the best things about deserted island life.

We love you all and can’t wait to see you soon.

XOXOXO,

CLiquors

Back to Cool

Posted by Cranberry Liquors Drinking Beer, Fine Cigars, Seasonal Beer, Summer_wine, Wines for Occasion No Comments

It’s wicked hot out.

corona_in_pool

Did you want to get anything done today? Oh, sorry, it looks like the weather has usurped any motivation you had.

There is good news!

Cranberry Liquors has the whatyou need to beat the summer heat.

We’re helping Harwich Port get ‘back to cool.’ 😉

/r/dadjokes

Here at Cranberry Liquors, we have

  1. Air Conditioning
  2. A beer cooler filled with beer (and it is a giant walk-in fridge. I’d be lying if I said we didn’t take turns taking shelter inside of it.)
  3. Chilled wine… rose, white and sparkling… and it is right beside the registers! That’s right.. we don’t even make you walk to the back of the grocery store to get the milk.

So if your face is melting off too, don’t even bother with trying to re-apply your make up. Maybe the lawn sprinkler is good enough for your three year old neighbors, but Harwich Port’s favorite liquor store has an idea for all you 21+ years old folks out there:

Get a cold glass of something to beat the heat. Heck, get two! We also sell ice, to keep your beer and wine cold and to throw at unsuspecting seagulls people.

inflatable_pool_living_room_beers_guy

inflatable pool living room beers guy

Pro Tip: Don’t be this guy… (Click the photo for the whole video but fair warning- they definitely say the F word a lot in the video.)

At least he’s drinking bud!

We’re open until 10 PM tonight, however we suggest stopping whatever you’re doing because you’re probably getting frustrated and getting a sunburn. In fact, you’re probably doing it wrong if only because it is SO hot out (I know I was.)

Give yourself permission. Take the rest of this extremely hot day… off.

What are you doing to beat the heat today?

It’s a BEAUTIFUL DAY! WHY ARE YOU ON THE INTERNET?

Posted by Cranberry Liquors About Us, Around Town, Drinking Beer, Featured, Seasonal Beer, Tasting Wine, Wine on trend No Comments

Cranberry Liquors: Your all-weather liquor store

Summertime, at least this year, is arriving in fits and starts. Usually by now, folks are racing to the beach to escape the heat and humidity. This year so far, not so much.

Because Cape Cod weather can be so unpredictable, we want to assure you of one thing: Cranberry Liquors is your all-weather liquor store. Plan your purchase to match the current or forecast weather. Rain or shine, hot or cold, dry or humid, we’ve got you covered.

Warmer Weather

If it looks like temps are going to be in the upper 70’s or higher, you might consider any of the following for your refreshment.

Pick Your Poison

Beer: Whether you’ve just finished mowing the lawn or coming back from the beach, nothing’s quite like an ice cold beer on a hot day.

And from Banana Bread to Hog Island, if we don’t carry it, we’d love to…

Here are some summer favorites... some should should look familiar

Cranberry Liquors has the tried and true as well as something you should truly try.

Wine: Can you say rose all day? Or pinot grigio to go? Lighter wines are refreshing and go well with salads, seafood, sandwiches or snacks.

Cocktails How about a Moscow Mule?

Gin and tonic with a twist?

Sure, I’m talking about a twist of lime but also a new take on an old favorite.

Check out Fever Tree tonic and this recipe here.

Lots of new products that are pool/beach/boat ready because they come in cans. (Vodka lemonade… blueberry vodka if you’re feeling fancy…)

So what are you drinking this summer? Tell us in the comments below! C.Liquors wants to know!

and if no one has said it already…

Happy Fourth of July!!!

See you later today?

Love,

Cranberry Liquors

Mother’s Day – Not Just Rosés

Posted by Cranberry Liquors About Us, Best_New_Wine, Craft Beer, Drinking Beer, Featured, Seasonal Beer, Tasting Wine, Wine on trend, Wines for Occasion No Comments

Do we write a Mother’s Day post every year?

No, only the important years. And this year happens to be an important one! Why, you might ask?

Because of the way the holidays stacked up, from Easter to Cinco De Mayo, and the fact that they cancelled spring this year, we’re pretty sure everyone needs a restful, seriously excellent weekend.

Without further ado, we’ve got Mother’s Day ideas for the mom who likes her pink wine, to the mom who likes her margarita with triple sec and extra salt.

2018 Wines for Mom

Other than for you to move out of her basement, what does your mom really want?

Rosés are still it, guys.

Things to know:

Do they like:

– dry or sweet (white or pink) wine?

– Domestic or Imported (California or French / Spanish / Italian?)

Hint: Raid her cabinet (or her Pinterest board) to see what she’s been into.

These are the wines Cranberry Liquors is betting our beer money on this year.

New Rosé 2018

The Mirabeau – (not to be confused with the Miraval rosé), this award winning rosé from rosé land (Provence, France,) this is a well priced, award winning wine. You can read more here (or just read the blog and come visit us at Cranberry Liquors.)

AIX – a french wine also from AIX/ Aix en Provence. Another award winner from that dominion/region in France that seems to churn out the best pink wine there is.

Read about the AIX here – I’m looking forward to this wine in particular.

Both the AIX and the Mirabeau retail at $17.99.

aix-rose-en-provence
Contenders also include Dark Horse (a California/ domestic), the Mimi and the Apothic Rosé. We carried these wines last year, but prices have come down a bit on these.

Apothic Rosé: $11.99

“Apothic Rosé 2017 features vibrant flavors of strawberry with a hint of raspberry. With a great balance between sweet and sour notes, this wine fully delivers on the profile of Provençal-style Rosés. With a refreshing yet creamy finish, this wine is light in style but dark in nature.”

dark_horse_rose

Dark Horse: $9.99

Mimi: $15.99

Tasting notes on this popular wine

“Cinsaut – Grenache – Syrah is a blend of grape varieties commonly grown and blended in southern France. This classic combination is used most commonly to make Provence‘s famous rosé wines, which display crisp, aromatic flavors of berryfruit and spice. The blend is also used to make some red wines, particularly in the appellations of the southern Rhone Valley and in the Languedoc-Roussillon area.”

Do a little shopping, buy something for mom too…

Not bad for Mom’s big day…

And if your mom will go for a beer or a glass of pink stuff, can we highly recommend the Angry Orchard Rose? Honestly, when this cider came out I was pretty confident it wouldn’t sell (thankfully, I don’t do the ordering.)

I was wrong!  Angry Orchard made pink sparkly, light and inspired by “Amour Rouge” apples and that pink thing everyone is doing. At $9.50 a six pack, (plus bottle deposit) you’ve got six chances to make mom very, very happy.

For Moms Who Like Beer

ANGRY-ORCHARD-ROSE

We don’t play into stereotypes so we’ll just say this: Moms love beer. All kinds.

A personal favorite (over 5 years and still going strong!) is the Lambic Framboise Raspberry Beer. I remember the first time I had it the man who suggested it (Hi Adam!) said

“It’s just raspberry and hops. That’s it!” And it’s wicked, wicked good.

schofferhofer-grapefruit-The other beer that’s great for warmer spring days is the Schofferhofer grapefruit beer. My favorite anecdote about this beer is the time the two 7 foot tall German guys came in speaking as much English as I do Spanish, telling me “this beer is most popular in Germany.” They walked out with the two and a half cases we had in stock.

Grapefruit-y, light effervescent beer that isn’t played out like Corona? Yes please.

Plus, just like the mixed case discounts we offer, mix-a-six pack of craft singles and continue to save ten percent!

Ideas for Mom who Shops

Two Words: Gift. Card. Cranberry Liquors Gift Cards

Make an afternoon of it with your dear little mama.

Buying a C.Liquors gift card makes for three excellent solutions:

– The mom who is seemingly indifferent to “stuff” (hint: if she shops at X-mas Tree Shop, this is not your mom.)

– The mom who prefers “the experience” to the “stuff” (a la’ those commercials for a Groupon app.)

– The mom who is never happy with what you get her

– The mom you have nothing to do with.

Plus, get her a gift card and she can buy her extra super fancy liqueur and neither of you has to feel guilty! You can put $25 toward her 100 year  cognac /Grand Marnier Cuvée du Centenaire (it happens all the time.)

Mom doesn’t drink

Hmm, wish I could help you but… kidding! Come by Cranberry Liquors, give us the scoop, and we’ll have a great suggestion for you. There are plenty of people in Harwich Port who know exactly what your mom wants (they probably know your mom if you’re from here too…)

Note: C.Liquors offers gift bags and other items to make it look like you put all the effort into making their present presentable!

Toasting the Local Spirits: Cape Cod Beer and First Crush Winery

Posted by Cranberry Liquors About Us, Around Town, Blends, Craft Beer, Drinking Beer, Featured, Local Spirits, Seasonal Beer, Tasting Wine No Comments

If you haven’t noticed already, there are a few celebrated local companies that have helped keep Cape Cod in the proverbial loop.

Craft beer lovers everywhere rave about Cape Cod Beer, a brewery smack dab in the middle of Hyannis. Cranberry Liquors’ staff remembers when people would see a few guys cruising around, hand delivering their growlers of Cape Cod Red. Since then, an IPA, Amber Ale and Beach Blonde, as well as several limited edition and seasonal beers have been added to their selection.

Oh… and they’ve outgrown their growlers (but they are still available on tap!)

Cape-cod-beer-localCape Cod Beer will be doing what they do best this Toast of Harwich; actively supporting their community with time and product. The people at Cape Cod Beer continue to succeed with their innovative beers and events (does anyone else have a ‘Race to the Pint’ sign in their front yard?)

One visit to their website and you’ll understand… with these guys “It’s All About the Beer” …and being good to the Cape that’s been so happy to have them.
Find out more about Cape Cod Beer’s and what they are up to this month by clicking here.

A little bit newer to the scene, rapidly winning over locals and visitors alike is First Crush Winery. When Cranberry Liquors first came into contact with First Crush Winery, we knew that this Harwich native was onto something great. Dr. Frank D. Puzio, formerly known for his optometry business, began importing grapes from his friends in Northern California, and First Crush’s excellent product started winning awards soon after.

During Cranberry Liquors’ first summers carrying First Crush we had a hard time keeping their wines on the shelf! Curious locals and visitors looking for something local alike swooped up whatever Sauvignon Blancs, Red blends and “Cape Cod cranberry” infirst-crush-wineryfused wines we carry. Fortunately for us, Dr. Puzio’s winery is only a few miles from our store on Main St Extension in Harwich.

Read all about First Crush’s award winning wines by clicking here.

First Crush Winery and Cape Cod Beer will be pouring at Mooncussers Inn and Tavern this Toast of Harwich. Both the brewery and the winery will be donating to the silent auction, and tasting their local products.

Remember: Mooncusser’s Inn and Tavern is where the V.I.P. reception and silent auction will be held this year! Read more about the event and get your tickets here today!

New Organic Wine Beer and Liquor

Posted by Cranberry Liquors Drinking Beer, Featured, Organic, Seasonal Beer, Tasting Wine, Uncategorized No Comments

Cranberry Liquors is featuring our newest organic wines, beers and liquors. Our 2016 best organic wines, best organic beers and ciders, even organic liquors!

C.Liquors Has A New Feature and it rhymes with Volcanic
From Our Daily wines to organic gins and vodkas, Cranberry Liquors has made an investment in our organic product selection.

When discussing why C. Liquors has a new featured section, Joe Della Morte (Proprietor) had this to say:

We made an investment in our organic wine selection. Just like we saw this summer, there is a clear “need” for organic wines. We have our regular customers, and we always have room on the shelf for what they are looking for.

C.Liquors Has A New Feature and it rhymes with Volcanic

So let’s start with what’s NEW!

Natura – Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon natura_Organic_malbec

Natura wines are made by the creator Banfi – If you’ve never heard of Banfi, then you’ve been under a rock.

In all seriousness, Banfi is a pretty massive umbrella in the wine world, carrying many, many of your favorite wines (like Banfi for instance, Pacific Rim, Entree and Placid…)

But Natura is a pretty neat vineyard. Their compost is comprised of “spent skins and stems” (because organic wine needs to use compost or… well I’ll let you Google it.) Besides that, instead of using pesticides, they have implemented insect killing pests. They replenish their soil with flowers so the minerals do not overly deplete. The Cab and Zin are both made in Chile, and both have excellent reviews. Click here for more info and reviews on Natura’s Cabernet and then their Malbec. Both are Gold Medal Winners of the Sommelier Challenge, and tasting notes and reviews acclaim them wildly.

Another new product is Our Daily White and their Zinfandel – We’ve carried Our Daily Red (a red blend) for over 7 years, and it has undoubtedly sold better than any other organic red wine. Not until recently, however, has Our Daily expanded their products to Chardonnay, Zin and their economically sized boxed wine. Tasting notes and other information about Our Daily is here: The gist is this: 100% certifiably crazy organic and vegan.

Our Daily is also sulfite free (besides the Chardonnay, which has some,) and they trump their competition once again: Our Daily is vegan to boot!

We have many other organic wines, but the lesser known (or less proclaimed to be organic) wines include King Estate’s Pinot Gris – an excellent medium bodied white, and best seller from Oregon.

Tres_Fili_Pinot_Grigio

Tasting notes (from http://kingestate.com) –

In the 2014 vintage, pineapple, nectarine, violets and lime zest collide with honeysuckle, cantaloupe, and minerals. A flowing harmony of fresh acid and a delicate sweetness carries the fruit and minerals through a generous finish.

Not unlike their Pinot Gris, King Estate’s Pinot Noir is equally organic, equally popular, and just as reasonably priced.

Italian

On to Italy!

Tres Fili – Another super popular white. This Italian Pinot Grigio, made with organically grown grapes,  is a top seller at Cranberry Liquors. Since June of this year, if not earlier, King Estate’s Pinot Gris comes highly recommended by the staff at Cranberry Liquors, and many of our loyal patrons.

Finally, for the sparkle lovers, we have Fascino, an Italian Prosecco. We get this prosecco from Monsieur Touton, and like all of the product we get from this vendor, it is remarkably good for its price, consistently good (and just plain consistent!) each season. We will only continue to sell more of the Fachino, as we do with all of our best wines – sparkly or otherwise.

Stay tuned in to this post!

Also, feel free to leave your comments! We say stay tuned because later this week, we’ll be turning you on to some well priced, lesser known organic BEERS and liquors – all because we love you, our customers.
