The 2014 pessimist is a very dark wine that offers gorgeous crème de cassis, black cherry, boysenberries, and toasted vanilla beans accompanied with sweet tannins and purity of fruit. Firm, yet elegant tannins balance the powerhouse of fruit and lead to a strong, lasting finish of black pepper, pipe tobacco, and spicy oak.

“The Daou brothers continue to focus on Bordeaux varieties from their estate that’s located high up off of Peachy Canyon Road. Across the board, these wines show fantastic purity of fruit, excellent concentration, and rich, textured personalities that never seem heavy or over-the-top. These are highly recommended and show the quality that’s possible from Bordeaux varieties in Paso Robles.” -The Wine Advocate, Issue #214 – August 2014
