There is a lot taking place in Harwich Port these days. Sleepy Harwich Port is no longer in hibernation- the sun is out, people are trickling in and businesses new, old and renewed are revving up for another incredible summer. Cranberry Liquors is busy filling our store with the liquor, wine, beer and cigars our […]
(Preamble: Cranberry Liquors wants to thank Baystone, Cape Cod Beer, Carolina, First Crush Horizon Beverages, Martignetti, Masciarelli, Monsieur Touton, MS Walker, Ruby and Trio Wine Company for their donations of product, their expert knowledge, excellent people and their donated time and service. The Toast of Harwich would not be the hyped up, killer event that it is [...]
It’s the final countdown! We are about 24 hours away from an epic event! Cranberry Liquors (ok, namely Joe) has been working around the clock with the Chamber of Commerce, our wonderful vendors, and fellow businesses to ensure this toast goes off without a hitch! If you happened to find this post and read it, […]
We did it guys! We got through a long, long winter. From the ides of March through April’s showers, home stretch = on! Wait. Oh, that’s right… this is Cape Cod. To assume the spring has sprung is to believe we can teach cats tricks. Fortunately for Cape Codders, we know exactly what to do […]
Every year, Harwich's Chamber of Commerce gets together to combine brainpower, booze, beverage and food companies to raise money for sleepy Harwichport's Chamber of Commerce. Of course, there are things going on behind the scenes that make for an amazing event. Other than the hand picked wines, beers and spirits, each restaurant, business owner and chamber member gets [...]
If you haven’t noticed already, there are a few celebrated local companies that have helped keep Cape Cod in the proverbial loop. Craft beer lovers everywhere rave about Cape Cod Beer, a brewery smack dab in the middle of Hyannis. Cranberry Liquors’ staff remembers when people would see a few guys cruising around, hand delivering their […]
Last year, I got to know one of my favorite people that I see at Cranberry Liquors. His name is Mark, and there are over a dozen reasons why he’s awesome. Mind you, I didn’t meet this person last year (but I did meet his beautiful wife!) Actually, I got to know Mark a few summers […]
If you’re a customer at Cranberry Liquors, the name “Monsieur Touton” is probably already a familiar one. The staff at Cranberry Liquors talks to our wine reps on a weekly basis (at minimum!) Our wine reps are a huge part of the selection we pride ourselves on at Cranberry Liquors. Every year for the Toast of […]
We Have the List! This May 5 at 5:00 PM, the 2017 Toast of Harwich will begin! This year, Cranberry Liquors wants to do something a little different before the toast. Just in case you forgot how incredible this evening is we have some pictures from last year's event. This year, like every year prior, [...]
So yesterday we called upon our loyal patrons to tell Cape Cod Life we are their favorite liquor store. It was kind of an “SOS – All hands on deck situation,” and we are grateful for the response. So far we’ve had excellent turnout, and we are so thankful for this! To anyone who hasn’t […]
As Cranberry Liquors works diligently on getting in the best in new wine that 2017 has to offer on our shelves, we are in the final countdown of our Winter Wine Sale! So, fellow aficionados, what will it be? 20% off of a full-bodied pinot noir, or 20% off of a couple bottles of your favorite […]
It’s that time of year. Yes, that time. Not that time at the beginning of November (TG that’s over) but that time in late November, with the preparation and consumption of old school food, often kicking off Christmas, Chanukah, and New Year-esque holidays. This time of year is especially cool if you live in NYC, […]
Summer is NOT over. Hurricane Hermine, however, has already introduced herself as a hair-style-ruining, swimming pool closing, grocery-shopping-like-we-have-zombies windy witch. Let not your hearts be troubled: Cranberry Liquors is OPEN. And we have a few ideas for “riding the wave” and keeping your spirits high! So… what to drink? Well, there’s the obvious “Dark and Stormy,” a […]
Last year, we were surprised and pleased to be named The Lower Cape’s Best Liquor Store in the Cape Cod Life 2015 ‘Best of’ poll. It was out of the blue and very satisfying. We’d like to win again so we are actively requesting you take a moment to vote for us before February 29th. […]
First off, this has been a wonderful winter! Snow that modestly covers the ground with less than an inch and doesn’t overstay its welcome. That’s winter on Cape Cod the way I like it. Admittedly, things are pretty quiet here in sleepy old Harwich Port. Most of the snowbirds left us right after the new […]
The temperatures certainly don’t betray the season. It seems winter has come early to Harwich Port. If there is an upside to cold weather it is the phenomenon of spontaneous hugging as friends reacquaint upon entering the store. Good to see familiar summer faces! Happy to shake off the early chill. As you prepare for […]
With the fourth of July weekend (week?) here, summer time on Cape Cod is in full swing. The roads are jammed, the air is hazy, hot and humid and everybody is sporting a suntan or worse. Here in Harwich Port, Route 28 becomes its own little version of Disney World’s Main Street USA; people walking, […]
During my regular trip to the TD Bank in Harwich Port, I was pleasantly surprised by the recipe below. Maureen prepared this tasty spread for sampling today and it was great (Okay, I tried it four times). Prepare and chill this 2-3 hours before serving. Throw in a bottle of sauvignon blanc, and I think […]
Thanks to Jeff at Norabella’s and Dominic from Bertani Wines and Sterling from Ruby Wines, our distributor and coordinator for the wine dinner.
The food and wine were outstanding and paired very nicely. Dominic, in addition to talking us through wines from the northeast of Italy, brought an extra treat: A 31 year old bottle of Bertani Amarone for us all to taste and it was delicious! But I’m getting ahead of myself.
We are undertaking a bit of an experiment here in sleepy little Harwich Port: I had the pleasure of visiting The Family Pantry here in Harwich. After a complete tour courtesy of Mary Anderson, the Executive Director, I felt compelled to contribute in some way. Knowing I was not going to donate alcoholic beverages to […]
The weather last night was threatening enough that I wasn’t sure I would make it to this event. Joselle and I, along with 18 other intrepid food and wine lovers, made our way to a wonderful wine dinner on Wednesday, January 26. At a cost of $65 per person and given the friendly nature of the group, the expertise of our wine rep Lori and the delicious creations of chef Jeff, this meal was clearly a bargain!
Okay, so probably not so secret anymore. Diane cuts hair at Jim’s Barber Shop in the plaza next to Cranberry Liquors. She kept coming in this summer and purchasing an odd assortment of ingredients — enough so I asked her exactly what she was doing with them. Diane explained herself by describing several friends-and-family events […]
